DP World wins bid in India
DP World has won a major concession at Deendayal port in Gujarat, on the western coast of India. The key purpose of the project is the construction, development, and operation of a container terminal at Tuna-Tekra within the framework of a public private partnership (PPP).
Plans for the facility include a 1,100 m berth, the capability to handle vessels with a capacity of up to 18,000 teu and an annual handling capacity of 2.2 million teu.
DP World currently operates five Indian terminals – two in Mumbai, one each in Mundra, Cochin and Chennai – with a combined capacity of approximately 6 million teu, and also seven multimodal inland terminals. (sh)
