Direct flights between Bonaire and Barranquilla

As of July, the small regional airline Z Air, based in Willemstad on the Caribbean Island of Curaçao, which belongs to the Netherlands, is launching new regular international flights between the Dutch island of Bonaire (BON) and Barranquilla (BAQ) in Colombia.

Initially, there will be flights from Bonaire to Barranquilla on Mondays and from Baranquilla to Bonaire on Fridays. One of the airline's four Saab 340 turboprop aircraft will be used. The carrier markets the freight capacities on its scheduled services under the Z Air Cargo brand.

However, dangerous goods, jewellery, cash, cakes, and perishable goods will not be accepted. The new direct connection reduces the transit time from Bonaire to Barranquilla from five to two hours, since a stopover on Curaçao was previously required. (dt)
