Cyber attack on MSC contained?
The websites of the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), headquartered in Geneva (Switzerland), have been offline since Friday last week. There were first remarks from the carrier itself during the Easter bank holidays that it may have been the target of a cyber attack.
Until now, servers at the Geneva headquarters have been closed down for security reasons. MSC has underlined that bookings, management and tracking of container shipments via «myMSC» are not affected.
As the second shipping line in terms of volumes on a global scale, MSC is a partner of Maersk in the 2M alliance. The 2M alliance cancelled a large number of services in Q2 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. (mw)
