Crane upgrade at VICT

The Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT), a fully-automated container terminal and a subsidiary of ICTSI, is preparing to receive the largest box ships ever to arrive in Australia by taking delivery of two new automated ship-to-shore cranes (STS).

The cranes are the largest in Australia, boasting a 49 m lift and a 60 m outreach, allowing them to handle 22 containers across a vessel and thus surpassing existing cranes’ 19-container capacities.

This expansion, which also includes the acquisition of six automated stacking cranes and is part of an AUD 235 million project (USD 150 million), will increase VICT’s capacities to 1.25 million teu. (pb)
