Covid-19 invites new visitors to China
Tunisair has landed in China for the first time since 2001, when a B737-500 prepared a presidential visit. On 10 April, one of the two A330-200 aircraft operated by Tunisia's flag carrier arrived without passengers in Chengdu, where it loaded 27 t of auxiliary equipment that had been purchased by Tunisia's central pharmacy. Three more flights are slated to transport up to 90 t of freight, including millions of face masks, to North Africa.
Meanwhile, Aer Lingus has also joined the airlift installed by IAG Cargo to carry freight from China to Western Europe. Five of the largest jets in the Irish airline's fleet, A330, are making over 60 round trips from Ireland to China in a mission to transport medical supplies and equipment that are destined to play a crucial role in Ireland’s national effort against Covid-19.
