Construction of Dutch hydrogen network begins

The construction of a national hydrogen network, commencing in the port of Rotterdam, was officially inaugurated on 27 October.

The presence of King Willem-Alexander, minister for climate and energy Rob Jetten, mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb, and the king's commissioner underlined the significance of this network for the Netherlands.

This open network will span approximately 1,200 km, providing access to green hydrogen for five Dutch industrial clusters. It will also establish a connection to Germany via the Delta Rhine Corridor. The initial 30 km section runs from the Maasvlakte Conversion Park to Pernis.

The first of four hydrogen plants will be constructed in the Conversion Park. Holland Hydrogen 1, a 200 MW hydrogen plant, will produce green hydrogen using offshore wind power and is expected to transport the first green hydrogen to Pernis by 2025. (pb)
