Coal transport now in open top containers
Russia-based Trans Container is developing its network for the transport of coal in open top containers and is launching a regular train service from Batareinaya station (Irkutsk Region) to Manzhouli station (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China). The transit time is three days.
Trans Container is in charge of operations on the Russian Railway (RZD) network and the handover at the Zabaikalsk border-crossing point, while a Chinese partner takes care of the transport in China between Manzhouli station and the point of destination in Heilongjiang. The first train loaded with 90 teu of coal from the Kharanut coal mine recently arrived in Manzhouli. (ben)
