Cloudy in Thailand, sunny in the Philippines
Thai Air Asia X, a low fare long haul carrier within the Air Asia Group, has suffered too much under the pandemic travel restrictions and filed for rehabilitation process while assuring that there will be no impact on its operations.
On the other hand, Air Asia Philippines is expanding its daily cargo operations in Zamboanga City from June, following the installation of new x-ray machines and the availability of a bigger warehouse. These expansion initiatives will allow the carrier to fly over 200 t of cargo per month.
Known as the flagship tourism destination of Western Mindanao, "Asia's Latin City" is the gateway to other tourist destinations in the region. Zamboanga City is also the centre of economic activity in Mindanao, with 90% of its cargo requirement allotted to exports of marine products. (ah)
