China delivers first shunting locos to Kazakhstan
The first four shunting locomotives, produced by the Chinese rolling stock manufacturer CRRC, have arrived in Altynkol in Kazakhstan - around six months earlier than agreed. They are specially designed for the climatic conditions in Kazakhstan and can be operated at temperatures between -40°C and +50°C.
The 135 t locomotives are equipped with diesel generator units that meet Kazakhstan's current environmental standards.
The four units just delivered are part of a framework agreement that the two countries concluded in October 2023 for the delivery of 100 shunting locomotives and 100 mainline locomotives intended to improve the efficiency of transport services in Kazakhstan. (ben)
