CCS introduces new module to cater for Brexit
In order to anticipate the effects of Brexit, the managing company of the Cargo Community System (CCS) at the port of Dunkirk (France), has mandated MGI to conduct a study on the cross-Channel ro-ro flows.
Taking into account the specificities of maritime and rail transport, the configuration of the port facilities and Getlink, the study led to an innovative solution - namely Channel Pass, a module integrated in the CCS Ci5.
Cross-Channel goods flows require the use of some 4.3 million trucks per year, 700,000 of which pass through the port of Dunkirk, 2 million through the port of Calais and more than 1.6 million transit through the Channel Tunnel.
The challenge for these ports is to maintain their attractiveness and competitiveness as well as to continue to ensure a swift passage through their facilities.
The Channel Pass solution proposed by MGI meets the need for anticipation by creating a true blockchain between the various players along the supply chain and the involved state services that is open to all, given that a large part of the flow comes from other European countries. (kd)
