Cargo sous terrain gains ground
Before the first section is opened in 2031, the Swiss logistics system Cargo Sous Terrain (CST) is now working on the preconditions for a nationwide network in cooperation with cities and cantons.
In the cantons of Aargau, Solothurn and Zurich, procedures to integrate the project into the cantonal structure plans will begin at the end of 2022.
CST is currently investigating suitable hub locations along the first section from Härkingen to Zurich Airport. Parallel to the planning of the first section, it is continuing its efforts to create a nationwide network by 2045.
In several cantons, CST has been able to achieve important milestones in recent months. It also sees promising technical and economic potentials in an extension of the network to St. Gallen. (sh)
