Cargo saves airline and patients

Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines recently launched their 40th humanitarian delivery flight when the airline’s new 787-9 Dreamliner departed Everett, WA, carrying more than 9 t of humanitarian supplies. The shipment, including supplies for health care and family needs, will be distributed to hospitals, clinics and charities in the Addis Ababa region.

In other news, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said that Covid-19 has already cost the airline more than USD 1 billion, but that the expansion of its cargo business has been vital. In addition to the conversion of 25 passenger aircraft, whose economy size seats were removed, 20 more aircraft of the 114 strong fleet have complemented the twelve freighters. "I would say that these flights saved our company,” says AFP Gebremariam. (ah)
