Captrain Netherlands now in Austrian hands
The expansion continues: After establishing subsidiaries in China and Serbia, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is now extending its international network within the Netherlands. RCG completed the acquisition of the Dutch railway company Captrain Netherlands from its parent company Captrain Holding Paris (SNCFT) on 31 May 2024. The purchase price was not disclosed.
The Netherlands are strategically important for RCG because of the direct connections between the ARA-Ports (Antwerp, Rotterdam, Amsterdam) and Germany.
With the expansion of its own traction network, the Austrian carrier will also be able to handle TransFER services end-to-end independently of traction partners in the future. (ben)
