Building an air-rail-road hub in Liège
In Belgium, Liege airport and Liège Logistics Intermodal (LLI) are joining forces to develop a new air-rail-road hub. In a first phase, the two partners will modernise and extend the existing road-rail platform for EUR 22 million up to 2030. Gantry cranes will be installed, and access roads will be upgraded to bring the rail tracks up to European standards.
The second phase will entail the creation of new access points and roadway modifications, the construction of a new goods storage and processing area, and the development of a horizontal piggyback loading platform. These upgrades will enable the rail-road platform to handle up to 45 trains a week. (ben)
