Boeing announces second customer for its 777-8F
The Lufthansa Group will continue its strategic decision to strengthen Lufthansa Cargo with the largest investment in the company's history, including an order for seven Boeing 777-8 freighters and a new order for three B777F, providing extra capacity in the near-term until the delivery of its first 777-8F expected between 2027 and 2030. In addition, leases for two B777F, which run through 2024, will be extended through 2031.
The first of the 777F, which could be acquired on the used market at short notice, is expected as early as July 2022. Two more brand-new B777F will follow at a later date.
Lufthansa Cargo becomes the second customer of Boeing's next-generation freighter, after Qatar Airways Cargo placed a firm order for 34 B777-8F and options for 16 more in January. (ah)
