Bilbao confirmed as next host for Coastlink
The port of Bilbao is set to host the next Coastlink conference in 2025, following this year's event in Amsterdam. Coastlink serves as a platform for industry stakeholders to discuss the expanding role and significance of short sea shipping (SSS), particularly in unaccompanied ro-ro transport.
Discussions at the conference emphasised the critical role of public-private partnerships in establishing green freight corridors and developing SSS as a sustainable alternative to road transport.
Additionally, the port of Bilbao is actively working on various initiatives, including dock electrification and the creation of green corridors and hubs for renewable energy and green hydrogen, in partnership with the ports of Amsterdam and Duisburg. These efforts are part of a broader commitment to enhance maritime decarbonisation and further strengthen Bilbao’s position as a major hub for green shipping solutions. (pb)
