Bifa members take on sustainability

The British International Freight Association (Bifa) has held the first meeting of its new sustainable logistics policy group. Managed by Mike Jones, it aims to identify and report environmental issues and their impact on the freight services industry.

Sustainability expert and consultant to Bifa Kelly Hobson of Shape Tomorrow gave a presentation about the requirements of any supply chain, whilst Lucinda Maxwell, founders’ associate, from Pledge delivered an overview about calculating freight emissions and sustainability regulations.

The meeting coincided with Use Less Stuff Day on 16 November. The director general, Steve Parker, encouraged all members to participate in and contribute to the group’s meetings. Bifa hopes to support its members in tackling an uncertain future of climate change. (mk)
