Bellyhold of "Biscarosse" instead of solar barque

For the exhibition "Ramses II and the Gold of the Pharaohs", which will open its doors tomorrow, 7 April 2023, at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris and run until 6 September 2023, Air France Cargo teams transported a priceless work of art of inestimable historical value – the sarcophagus of Ramses II.

This unique object, approximately 3,200 years old, was flown from Cairo to Paris on 23 March on board a regular flight operated by the A350 "Biscarosse". On arrival at CDG, police units were waiting to escort it to the capital.

The sarcophagus was presented to the French public only once before, in 1976. It has since remained in Egypt. Although the exhibition will tour a number of major cities around the world, the centrepiece of the exhibition is being exclusively loaned to France to keep transport to a minimum. (ah)
