Belgian carrier honours Covid-19 heroes
European railfreight operator Lineas revealed the brand new "Heroes" locomotive in its main hub in Antwerp, Belgium. With the special edition locomotive, wrapped in white for the occasion, Lineas wants to honour today's heroes in the battle against the coronavirus: all healthcare workers, but also other critical jobs that keep society on track during this crisis.
Lineas' symbolic gesture comes at a critical point for the railfreight sector. With market demand decreased by 20% to 30% because companies have stopped production, railfreight companies are asking the Belgian government to support their sector in its mission. Immediately after the unveiling ceremony, the locomotive will be put to use in Lineas green xpress network transporting goods all over Europe. (ben)
