Bavarians find their stand in Hamburg
It was a topping-out ceremony in a special place at a special time. With 175 guests, including some from Switzerland, Bavarian Group 7 celebrated this milestone for its new multi-user warehouse.
Once completed, the modern logistics centre in Hamburg-Billbrook will comprise 26,000 sqm of logistics space and 2,000 sqm of additional office space, the latter to be housed in an extension of an original architectural design. The EUR 36 million investment testifies to the company’s ambition - and to the long road to achieve this goal.
Managing director Günther Jocher explained that the Hamburg location, the fifth of the entire group, is growing "from a small office in 2006 to a branch with 28,000 sqm of office and logistics space."
All those working on the construction were praised - and the topping-out ceremony was appropriate for the facility – the size of three football fields - which will start operations in Q4/2022. Here, in addition to handling overland traffic and other services, the company will also tranship sea freight consolidated containers, unloading them for imports and stowing them for exports. (sh)
