Baltic service to UK launched
Northern England's Teesport has recently handled the “Balt VI”, a first vessel of the new cargo service operated by Containerships, an affiliate of CMA CGM, from the Baltics.
The service from Klaipeda was launched in October and provides additional capacity for shippers moving containerised cargo into the UK with a four-day turnaround between Lithuania and the British port. The service, which will arrive in Teesport each Monday after departing Klaipeda the previous Friday, provides an extra weekly capacity of 280 units.
Handling an average of 28 million t per year, Teesport contributes an economic value of GBP 1.4 billion to the UK economy annually. (cd)
