Autonomous trucking going ahead
Volvo Autonomous Solutions (VAS) is set to offer new hub-to-hub autonomous transport solutions in the USA, and to this end will partner global logistics provider DHL Supply Chain as its first customer in the project.
The solution is designed to serve shippers, carriers, logistics services providers and freight brokers. It represents a technical solution for autonomous trucks in the USA, while also developing a complete transport-as-a-service solution (taas) for integrated and scalable autonomous freight capacity for highway applications.
The future deployment of class 8 Volvo VNL autonomous trucks will be DHL’s first taas operation globally, Volvo said. (ben)
