Autonomous 120 t road train for mining operations


The manufacturer Scania and the Australian metal mining company Fortescue have joined forces to develop and validate a fully integrated autonomous road train solution support the transformation of the global mining industry and meet the increasing demand for autonomous alternatives.

 

With Scania’s technology in truck automation, the new offer will be integrated with Fortescue’s fleet management system (FMS) designed to optimise fleet utilisation, fuel and energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions. It will also integrate Scania’s onboard autonomation hardware and technology for the Scania R770 prime mover platform, coupled with three trailers weighing 120 t with a payload of 240 t. (ben)
