Automated train loading
For several months now, two automated loading cranes from infralogistics systems manufacturer Vollert have been accelerating the unloading of freight wagons with e-car batteries for e-car production at Skoda's main plant in Mladá Boleslav (Czechia).
The two train handlers are each equipped with four forks and a lifting capacity of up to 10 t. After opening the wagon doors, the train handlers automatically recognise the position of the battery transport racks and take over two racks at a time.
The automation shortens loading times and at the same time increases safety when handling the sensitive batteries, the two companies said. (ben)
