Approval for first converted e-truck in France
The 12 t Renault Trucks D was originally equipped with a combustion engine and was retrofitted into a battery-powered electric vehicle. The e-truck has now been leased for a period of several years to Extime, a company that operates duty-free stores at Paris Airport.
The transformation of the truck entailed various processes and verifications at Utac, a Paris-based inspection authority responsible for technical approvals. Among other things, the team tested the electromagnetic compatibility and conformity of the vehicle’s braking systems.
Renault Trucks is the first manufacturer in France to obtain official approval for road traffic for a “converted” electric vehicle. (ben)
