APM Terminals Callao reaches milestone
APM Terminals Callao, concessionaire of the Callao North Multipurpose Terminal in Peru, reached a milestone on 17 June by exceeding 1 million teu in a single concession year for the first time. In comparison to the twelve months before, the volume of containers entering the port from July 2022 to June 2023 grew by 11%.
A record productivity of 118 containers per hour was achieved this year, an increase of 44% versus average productivity last year. With an investment of USD 30 million, new electric cranes, including a super post panamax ship-to-shore crane and three electric rubber tyred gantry cranes, arrived at the terminal. Loading and unloading processes were improved, and the port stays for ships were reduced.
