APM in Barcelona on simulation
APM Terminals Barcelona has performed fire and evacuation simulation on an SC crane in order to validate the action guidelines set out in its emergency plan. The simulation was carried out in coordination with the port of Barcelona because APM’s emergency plan is integrated into the plan of the port community.
The fire was simulated with the SC surrounded by a block of containers, making it more difficult to reach. This type of activity includes all the people who are involved in port logistics on a day to day basis.
APM Terminals Barcelona says such a simulation provides an opportunity for reflection and to identify areas for improvement which allow the company to strengthen safety for all involved parties. (kd)
