Antwerp Lineas hub to receive new equipment
In Antwerp North (Belgium), the intermodal rail connected terminal ‘Main Hub’ is looking forward to receiving new equipment. Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has been awarded the contract to supply the European rail operator Lineas Intermodal with two Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers.
Lineas is a large private railfreight operator in Europe. With its "Green Xpress network" it offers customers daily rail connections between the ports and Europe’s economic hubs. Lineas Intermodal’s equipment fleet already includes four Kalmar straddle carriers.
The new Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers are designed to help Lineas Intermodal reduce both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions when compared to using traditional diesel-powered machines. Delivery is scheduled to be completed in Q1/2020. (cd)
