Alstom broadens contract with Wincanton
Alstom UK has extended a contract with Wincanton by three years. Alstom's supply chain partner, who has worked for the shipper since 2018, will widen its services portfolio by adding a new logistics facility.In detail, Wincanton will provide a dedicated warehouse for the refurbishment of Alstom’s high-speed passenger train fleet (class 390 Pendolino). The 21,600 sqm warehouse will be built in Haydock, near Liverpool. Materials will be migrated from an existing facility in Warrington, to enable production support for the refurbishment programme.In addition, the facility will be used for recycling and waste management from the site. Over the past three years, Wincanton claims to have delivered an 18% reduction in transport costs and achieved its sustainability target of 0% of waste going into landfills.
