Air cargo from Russia to lighten up Bangladesh
Shodesh Shipping & Logistic Company, member of the PCN and WCA Projects Network, was nominated as an exclusive logistics agent in Bangladesh to handle and deliver the first seven batches of highly sensitive nuclear fuel to the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP).
The first uranium consignment arrived by a special flight from Russia on 28 September 2023 and was taken to the project area site under a special security arrangement following international guidelines.
On 5 October, the certificate of safe handing over of the cargo was officially given by the Russian fuel supplier to RNPP, making Bangladesh the 33rd member of the nuclear power club. Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Russian president Vladimir Putin and director general of IAEA Rafael Mariano Grossi attended ceremony online. (ah)
