Air Algérie: Airbus for long-haul flights

After having ordered eight B737 in March (see the upcoming ITJ 23-26/2023, p. 36), Air Algérie has now signed a firm order with Airbus for seven widebody aircraft.

Algeria's national carrier has chosen five A330-900s and two A350-1000s. The European aircraft manufacturer adds that "this order will allow Air Algérie to take full advantage of the flexibility of the Airbus product range, strengthen its regional services and offer an ambitious plan for transcontinental destinations."

By operating both types, the airline will also benefit from operational savings like reduced fuel burn, and greater flexibility. The A330-900 has a cargo capacity of 33 ULD, the A350-1000 can carry 44 ULD.

By the end of April, the A330 family had received 1,775 firm orders from 130 customers worldwide, while the A350 Family 967 reported firm orders from 54 customers. (ah)
