Additional office for the Indian Register
On 1 February the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) opened an office in Coimbatore, in India’s southernmost federal state of Tamil Nadu. The industrial city has a diversified manufacturing sector, including more than 25,000 small, medium and large-scale enterprises.
The IRS used to cover the region through its centre in Kochi, but has now opted for a dedicated office in Coimbatore, due to the growing component of marine industry in the region.
