A year-defining acquisition
The Geis Group was able to raise its turnover and expand its service portfolio in 2023. It attributed this performance to the majority takeover of Quehenberger Logistics, which defined its growth last year. At EUR 1.89 billion, the group’s turnover was around EUR 0.5 billion above the level of 2022. While cargo volumes declined, particularly in the air and sea services segments, the company recorded an uptick in contract logistics.
Quehenberger Logistics was integrated into the management and corporate structure over the course of 2023. It was the largest acquisition in the company's history and primarily fuelled growth in the Southeast European market. The parties plan to work together to promote sustainability and digitalisation in their organisations in the years to come. (mk)
