A transport bridge between Turkey and Milan

The new service was jointly developed and introduced by intermodal operator Alpe Adria, ro-ro operator DFDS, SBB Cargo International and the port of Trieste. In Italy, the new train links the ro-ro terminal in Trieste with the Malpensa intermodal terminal in Sacconago in the Milan area. The aim is to create a new sea/land bridge between Turkey and Milan, one of Italy’s major industrial centres.

The train will transport containers, tanks, swap bodies and semi-trailers. It will initially operate two round trips per week, with the frequency to be gradually increased in the future. The new service will enable it to consolidate its position as a “one-stop store” and CT specialist, Alpe Adria said. (ben) www.alpeadria.
