A Spaniard consolidating in Portugal
Varma Food & Personal Care (VFPC) signed its first international distribution alliance in 2020. It has now complemented it by signing an exclusive distribution agreement in Portugal, thus expanding its capacity to export beverages. VFPC is a unit of Spain’s Varma Group, a drinks distributor established in Madrid in 1942.
The deal signed with the Portuguese company Garcias Wine & Spirits will make Varma’s brands available in Portugal and its islands. The distributor Garcias Wine & Spirits, headquartered in Alcochete, near Lisbon, also offers its clients food logistics services.
Teresa Martín de la Mata, the president of Grupo Varma, pointed out that "entering the Portuguese market with a company like Garcias makes us feel confident that we can use the hotel and catering industry as a key channel to build our brands.” (cd)
