A second lease of life
With the help of equipment service provider TIP, DSV will refurbish 1,100 trailers to use on its European lanes rather than replacing them with new units.
The forwarder plans to put the first refurbished trailers on the road already at the end of January 2023 and will finish adapting the last of the initial 1,100 trailers before the end of December 2023.
Typically, DSV uses a trailer for five years. Refurbishing a trailer after the first five years, DSV expects to give the trailer another full five-year lifecycle and thus reduce its environmental footprint. The company has calculated that the refurbishment will save 18,000 t of emissions for the total 1,100 trailers. (ben)
