A new partner for CG Railway JV
Grupo Mexico Transportes (GMXT) is purchasing a stake in CG Railway and thus joining the Genesee & Wyoming (G&W) joint venture CG Railway in the USA. This further strengthens G&W’s partnership with GMXT, which offers rail transport services in Mexico and has a strong presence in the Southern United States, including 13 ports between the two countries.
G&W initially formed a JV with Seacor Holdings in 2017 to own and operate CGR. CGR has provided rail-ferry service between the ports of Mobile, Alabama, and Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, across the Gulf of Mexico since 2001. Its portfolio also includes customs clearance process and protection against pilferage while in transit on the Gulf of Mexico, G&W said. (ben)
