A good year for Geis Group
Geis Group, which is headquartered in Germany, increased its turnover by 19.4% year-on-year to almost EUR 1.2 billion last year. It had recorded a slight decline of 3.3% in 2020.
The air + sea services segment proved to be the growth driver in 2021, with turnover up by 60%. Turnover also improved in international land transport operations (+17%) and contract logistics (+11%).
The company's network was expanded to Poland, Czechia and Slovakia. New logistics properties were built in Nuremberg and Gochsheim near Schweinfurt, Germany. Geis also established its first national company in Hungary with a logistics terminal in Budapest at the beginning of 2021 and acquired Apextrans in Zurich (Switzerland), boosting its own air and sea freight operations in this country.
At Geis' 122 locations in Europe, 6430 employees had handled a total of 12.1 million transport and logistics orders (+13.7%) with a volume of 7.1 million t (+23.5%) by the end 2021. (sh)
