4,400 railcars to ship Alberta’s crude oil

The Canadian province of Alberta has signed an agreement with Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) and Canadian National Railway (CN) to lease 4,400 railcars to transport crude oil to the USA and international markets.

The first shipment of Alberta’s oil will be launched in July 2019 and reach a throughput of up to 120,000 barrels per day by 2020. The Alberta government will purchase crude oil from producers and load it onto the railcars at onloading facilities across the province.

The crude oil will then be shipped to market. With this increased rail capacity all Albertans will get a better price for their own energy resources. (ben)
