18 terminals to be built in the next ten years
Cargo Beamer is getting financial support from Germany and Switzerland for two new terminal building projects – a new facility in Kaldenkirchen (Germany) and an expansion in Domodossola (Italy) near Milan - for handling all types of semi-trailers.
EUR 50 million will be contributed by private investors and EUR 140 by the public sector, including the German federal railway authority and the Swiss federal office of transport.
The terminal in Domodossola, a central hub for transalpine freight traffic, will be upgraded to shift up to 185,000 craneable and non-craneable truck consignments from road to rail every year. The company plans to build a total of 18 terminals and up to 50 routes in Europe in the next ten years. (ben)
