102 new intermodal wagons for Mercitalia Logistics
The leasing company Ermewa has delivered 102 bran-new intermodal wagons to Mercitalia in Turin, Italy. The four-axle Sgmmnss 40' wagons were built by Tatravagonka in Poprad, Slovakia and are suitable for ISO 20', 30' and 40' containers as well as swap bodies.
All the hired wagons are now in operation. In July, the first 67 wagons were put into service for local transports in Florence, where they are now carting off gravel from a tunnel construction site.
According to Mercitalia, the new wagons are a further step towards fleet renewal and eco-friendly transport. Mercitalia owns more than 340 electric and 130 diesel locomotives and operates up to 100,000 trains a year in Europe. (ben)
