100 years of Zürcher Freilager
5 October saw an event celebrating 100 years of the company Zürcher Freilager and the 50th anniversary of the Embraport logistics hub take place in Embrach.
The guests of honour included the president of the board and CEO of Zürcher Freilager; regional minister Carmen Walker Späh, the head of the canton of Zurich’s economy directorate; Dr Regine Sauter, the director of the Zurich chamber of commerce and a member of the national parliament; as well as Rebekka Bernhardsgrütter, the mayoress of Embrach. On top of this the event was attended by Stefan Paul, CEO of Kuehne + Nagel International; Mathias Wolff, CEO of Kuehne + Nagel Switzerland; and Martin Kyburz, founder and CEO of Kyburz Switzerland.
Central government minister Guy Parmelin called the company “one of the model enterprises of national importance.”
The firm is now planning a new production facility and a real estate development in the northeastern section of the Embraport, due to be finished by the end of 2024. (mk)
