El operador de infraestructura Trim (Transnet Rail Infrastructure Manager) ha firmado \u00abAcuerdos de Acceso Ferroviario\u00bb con las once nuevas empresas ferroviarias autorizadas. Con esto, el n\u00famero de operadores activos en la red ferroviaria nacional aumenta de uno a doce empresas.<\/p>\n<p>Entre los nuevos proveedores se encuentran Grindrod, ARC South Africa, Menar Ports &amp; Rail y Sharp Logistics. Se espera que transporten mercanc\u00edas como carb\u00f3n, manganeso, contenedores, combustibles y carga general. Seg\u00fan Trim, esto podr\u00eda generar inicialmente una capacidad adicional de 24 millones de toneladas de carga. En un plazo de cinco a\u00f1os, se podr\u00eda expandir a 52 millones de toneladas.<\/p>\n<p>Paralelamente, a finales de 2025 se introdujo un nuevo procedimiento para la asignaci\u00f3n a corto plazo de rutas. Esto permitir\u00e1 planificar los transportes de manera m\u00e1s flexible. Un primer proyecto se refiere a un servicio de corta distancia entre Cato Ridge y Durban para aliviar el tr\u00e1fico por carretera en la zona portuaria.
