Enquanto o transporte ferrovi\u00e1rio oferece uma alternativa de baixa emiss\u00e3o para o transporte de pessoas e mercadorias, o transporte rodovi\u00e1rio permanece o setor dominante.<\/p>\n<p>O transporte \u00e9 fundamental para a sociedade moderna e a economia europeia, conforme informa a ag\u00eancia ambiental. Ele apoia mais de 10 milh\u00f5es de empregos e contribui com cerca de 5% para o produto interno bruto da UE. No entanto, o setor de transporte, segundo o relat\u00f3rio, \u00e9 a \u00fanica grande \u00e1rea onde as emiss\u00f5es de gases de efeito estufa aumentaram desde 1990. Em 2023, o setor representou cerca de um ter\u00e7o das emiss\u00f5es de gases de efeito estufa da UE, com o transporte rodovi\u00e1rio tendo a maior participa\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<h3>Desafios na redu\u00e7ao de emissoes<\/h3>\n<p>As metas da UE, incluindo a neutralidade clim\u00e1tica at\u00e9 2050 e as metas ambientais zero para 2030, exigem a\u00e7\u00f5es abrangentes, como revela o relat\u00f3rio. Apesar dos avan\u00e7os na redu\u00e7\u00e3o das emiss\u00f5es de poluentes no passado, o transporte continua a ser um fator de press\u00e3o para o meio ambiente e a sa\u00fade humana.
