US terminals upgrading equipment

Port Newark container terminal (PNCT) in New Jersey (USA) recently took delivery of two megamax outreach cranes, and in Eddystone PA, the Penn Terminals have welcomed two new Liebherr super post panamax ship-to-shore (STS) cranes.

The cranes for PNCT, the first out of four new Liebherr STS cranes, are part of a terminal improvement and expansion plan, which will see the terminal surface grow to 125 ha. The cranes boast a 69 m outreach, a 30.48 m span and a 20 m backreach. Since 2001, Liebherr have delivered 14 cranes to the New York/New Jersey area.

Penn Terminals is located on the Delaware River nearly 10 km south of Philadelphia. Penn’s new cranes have an 18.29 m span, a 48 m outreach, a 15 m backreach and a 66 t safe working load under the twinlift spreader. (kd)
