US forwarder buys 500 tractors and 210 trailers

Roadrunner Transportation Systems, headquartered in Illinois (USA), is investing in additional fleet assets to keep freight moving efficiently throughout its networks. Capital plans for 2019 include the acquisition of over 500 sleeper and day-cab tractors and the acquisition or refinancing of over 2,100 dry and refrigerated trailers.

By adding new equipment to its fleet the company intends to increase safety, reduce breakdowns, improve fuel efficiency and provide a better driver experience. The upgraded fleet is also expected to help raise driver productivity and ensure on-time deliveries while reducing maintenance costs. (ben)
