Two thirds of logistics companies affected

More than 65% of logistics companies have suffered financial losses due to supply chain disruptions according to a Logistics Hall of Fame Trend survey. Likewise, 65% rate the general risk of suffering future financial damage as high or very high.

"The Corona crisis has shown us how quickly established logistical processes can get out of sync if only one part of the chain shows weaknesses," says Thomas Wicke, managing director of Schunk Group, which collaborated on the survey.

More than 78% of respondents said they rely on supplier diversification to protect against supply chain disruptions, and 52.2% also rely on good inventory management and stockpiling.

A comprehensive supplier assessment, coupled with good supplier management, is seen by 47.8% as a way to mitigate supply chain disruptions with as few consequences as possible for their own company. (mk)
