Turkish intermodal operator sells road network
The Danish ferry operator DFDS has acquired the international road transport network connecting Turkey and Europe from Ekol Logistics. With this move, DFDS extends its northern European ferry/road business model and end-to-end transport solutions between Turkey and Europe.
Ekol was founded in 1990 and based in Istanbul. In addition to road haulage and logistics services, it manages intermodal transports by using 52 block trains per week. The company operates 1,300 trucks, 3,900 trailers/swap bodies, and 600 containers and runs 26 facilities in Europe with a total area of 120,000 sqm. Around 75% are cross-docking terminals for LTL operations and the remainder are warehouses with storage capacity. (ben)
