ThPA testing emissions monitoring project
The port of Thessaloniki (ThPA) has become the first in the EU and the Mediterranean to pilot ‘RightShip’s Maritime Emissions Portal’ (Mep), under a Helmepa-led Metavasea project.
The initiative, supported by Lloyd’s Register Foundation, aims to enhance emissions tracking and sustainability in port operations. Metavasea focuses on maritime decarbonisation in the Eastern Mediterranean. The one-year pilot project provides insights into scope 3 emissions, helping stakeholders implement data-driven strategies.
Athanasios Liagkos, ThPA executive chairman of the board is convinced that “our involvement in the Mep pilot project will reinforce our role in setting new standards in the port industry.” (js)
