Tanker saves 50 t of fuel per month
Socatra, Syroco, and Total Energies have showcased significant fuel and emissions reductions on the tanker “Alcyone” using Syroco's weather routing platform combined with rotor sails. Operating on transpacific routes, the 183 m vessel achieved fuel savings of up to 21% through optimised routing and wind propulsion, avoiding 1,800 t of CO2 annually.
Syroco's platform, which is deployed alongside Norsepower’s rotor sails, provides real-time data to amplify efficiency and evaluate return on investment. The collaboration highlights the roll of digital tools in reducing emissions and enhancing maritime sustainability and demonstrates the potential of integrated technology to help achieved decarbonisation goals.
